ETS is committed to serving test takers with disabilities or health-related needs by providing reasonable accommodations that are appropriate given the purpose of the test. Testing accommodations are available for test takers who meet ETS requirements.
The following are some of the available accommodations that you can request as part of the registration and accommodations approval process.
If you'd like to request accommodations other than those listed above, describe them in Part II of the Testing Accommodations Request Form found in the Bulletin Supplement (PDF).
If you’re not sure whether the accommodation you need is available, please contact ETS Disability Services.
If you have a health-related need that requires you to bring equipment, beverages or snacks into the testing room, or to take extra or extended breaks, you’ll need to follow the accommodations request procedures in the Bulletin Supplement.
You’ll need to submit your request and have your accommodations approved by ETS Disability Services before you can schedule your test.
Submit your request as early as possible, especially if you're requesting an alternate test format. Documentation review takes approximately 6 weeks once your request and completed paperwork are received. If you are required to submit additional documentation, the review can take another 6 weeks from the time the new documents are received.
Once you've been approved, you'll receive an email providing instructions on how to register for the test. Please wait for your approval email before attempting to make a test appointment.
The easiest, most convenient way to submit your request is through your ETS account. Simply log in to your account, select “TOEFL Accommodation Status/New Request” on the home page and follow the instructions on the screen.
You can also email your request or send it by mail or courier service. For directions on how to do so, see the Bulletin Supplement.
